Re-think

A week of waiting rooms later (I am fine, having passed my annual round of post-cancer testing, thankyouverymuch) the second sock is almost finished. As you can see from this photo taken along the way, I have changed things up a bit.

I started out thinking that I did not have enough yarn, and added a contrasting color for the heels and toes. After the first sock it was evident that I had plenty of yarn, but I now quite like the contrast. However, my toe-up heel was just not the shape I envisaged for a contrasting heel. So I made the second sock top down. It's a much better look, and I don't mind re-doing the first sock at all. What amazes me slightly is that the top-down heel is exactly the same height as the toe-up heel.
