Legacy Project: Refined Aran Vest

This time, there was a pattern book in with the project. I spread out the Aran back to start looking for a match, and to my delight, found it in the frontispiece!

I was also delighted to learn that it didn't lack sleeves, as I had supposed, but just armhole bands. My sister had elected to hold two yarns together for the project, a linen and a merino/tencel, and the remains of bother were still with the project. She was also customizing the size, but that didn't matter. Tossing the instructions' desire to have me knit an armhole band and then sew it on, I just picked up 5 out of 6 stitches around each armhole (making sure I got the same number on the front and back of both arms), and copied my sister's choice of 1x1 twisted rib instead of the slightly more complicated pattern in the instructions. I found matching buttons, matched them to the buttonholes, and it was all done except for a wash.

Linen blooms beautifully in the wash (and produces astonishing amounts of lint). It turned out really nice. It's just not a size (36" chest) for anyone I know!

Needles: US 1.5 (2.50 mm)
Yarn: Katia Lino 100% and Valley Yarns 2/10 Merino/Tencel
Pattern: Charlotte Morris's Refined Aran Vest
