I knew that the waistband was going to be the fiddly bit of this project, since everything connects there. I just didn't know HOW fiddly.

First attempt at attaching the sash:

Nope. Despite the instruction to sew with right sides together, the sash wound up backwards to the skirt.

Okay, let's try the other side. Possibly they meant the right sight of the fabric sash should face the right side of the skirt, despite the fact that they do not touch.

Also, nope. And much worse, since sealing up the waistband would have meant completely enclosing the sash.
