... when you read Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle aloud to your husband on long car trips,


and that sparks an interest in cheese-making that culminates in this year's Christmas gift of Ricki Carroll's Home Cheese Making,

 


and he tries out his new knowledge before the New Year.
